CMI Middle East’s history dates back to 1990 with the foundation of CMI International in Bristol, UK which provided representation for a number of hardware manufacturers in the British market. With its success, the founders saw the opportunity to expand to the emerging construction market in the United Arab Emirates.

Since then, CMI Middle East has grown to become one of the leading sanitary ware supply companies in the industry with collections to suit every taste and budget.

1990

Tony Hugill founded CMI International, a consultancy company with offices in Bristol, UK providing expertise for a number of British hardware manufacturers wishing to enter and supply into the high volume British multiple markets.

1994

Due to CMI International’s success, it was approached by Fluidmaster Inc. of the USA to help broaden their UK business. Today with a turnover of $2,500,000 Fluidmaster is the No.1 supplier, both in the UK & Ireland for flush valve systems.

 1998

With its achievements, both in project consultancy as well as branded distribution, and due to the opportunities in supplying the large construction market of the UAE, Tony along with his son Jonathan Hugill chose to invest in the Middle East region, by opening CMI International’s first overseas office in Dubai. CMI choose to consolidate its position in the region by establishing an independent regional office and cost centre located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone.

 2005

With the Middle East turnover now matching that of its UK parent company, it was decided that the time was now right to establish itself as a fully-fledged independent “Free Zone Company” – CMI Middle East FZCO.

As a part of the continuous growth strategy envisaged by the directors, CMI Middle East acquired the rights of distribution of VitrA bathroom products from Turkey.

 2011

As part of the continuous growth strategy envisaged by the directors, CMI Middle East further extended its product portfolio by teaming up with leading European manufacturers, Ceramicas Gala (Spain) and Marti 1921 (Spain).

 2014

To further diversify the company, CMI launched its in-house stone products division offering marble, granite, and other natural & reconstituted stone products – a strategy to realize the company’s mission to provide total bathroom solutions.
